Dear Neighbors and Friends,

The Growth Hearings Board (Board) will hold a Compliance Hearing in Friday Harbor this Thursday (April 24), beginning at 9:00 AM in the Council Chambers.  The purpose of the hearing is for the Board to decide whether or not San Juan County complied with the Board’s September 6, 2013, Final Decision Order with respect to the County’s Critical Areas Ordinance (“CAO”) adopted in December 2012.   The Board found last September that the CAO passed in 2012 was not compliant in eight areas with the Growth Management Act.
We do not know if the hearing will be televised; however, it is usually the case that they do film it.  You are encouraged to attend in person.  Should you be unable to attend the hearing in person, it may be televised live at this link or recorded for your convenience in watching sometime after the hearing.
Sandy Mackie, of Perkins Coie, LLC, will once again be representing the Common Sense Alliance (CSA) and the P. J. Taggares Company.  As you can well imagine, Mr. Mackie’s appearance at these hearings is extremely expensive.  CSA urgently needs your financial support to continue this fight.  We are committed to winning on behalf of all property owners, businesses and individuals who value living and working on these precious islands.
Again, we thank you for your support!
